[With his long-awaited “You Can’t Stop Destiny” album finally available this week, New York rap veteran Papoose gives SOHH his take on the digital versus physical album debate and suggests which version readers should buy.]

You know what? A lot of people, when it comes to me, love the physical copies. When it came to my last project, The Nacirema Dream, I sold more physical than I did digital.

I think that’s because I was built from the ground up. I think that’s why.

Some of these artists nowadays, their fans don’t even know what a CD is. They don’t even know what it looks like, I don’t think. I’m not going to say any names, they probably look at that sh*t and it probably looks like a Rubics cube to them.

They don’t even know what to do with it.

But, for me, for my audience, I put out so many mixtapes that my fans are used to holding my projects and unopening it.

I would like them to get the physical but to be in touch with reality, the digital might be the best answer because it’s unlimited.

There’s only a certain amount of physical that’s pressed out because they’re starting to get outdated and a lot of people don’t really deal with CD players anymore.

I might have to say digital is the best way to support the album but get the physical too because I have those out there.
