A retired Los Angeles Police Department detective who took on the unsolved murder of late hip-hop mogul Christopher “Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace has passed away this week.

According to reports, detective Russell Poole died from a suspected heart attack.

He was rushed to a local hospital, where he died, the coroner’s office said. Poole worked on Smalls’ murder case for about a year, according to Times archives. Poole advanced the theory that Wallace’s death came from a plot involving a corrupt LAPD detective and Marion “Suge” Knight, who headed Shakur’s company when Shakur was killed. Wallace’s killing was retaliation, Poole suggested, according to The Times. (My News LA)

Last year, Notorious’s ex-wife Faith Evans and Bad Boy Records CEO Diddy paid homage to B.I.G. during a Los Angeles performance.

Faith Evans brought along some old friends during her show at the House of Blues in L.A. on Wednesday. Following an opening set from Kelly Price, the R&B diva was joined onstage by Diddy, who helped her pay tribute to her late husband, the Notorious B.I.G., with their classic “I’ll Be Missing You.” “Thanks to my bro @iamdiddy for coming out to rock the stage w/me & @1500orNOTHIN 2nite!” tweeted Faith. During her appearance on “Bethenny,” Faith spoke about her relationship with her former Bad Boy boss. “We keep in touch. He sends my kids Christmas gifts every year,” she said. (Rap-Up)

Faith appeared on television personality Arsenio Hall‘s talk show in 2013 and spoke on B.I.G.’s murder case.

“We just basically stopped spending our money on trying to hope that the LAPD was gonna do, you know, their part. You know what I’m saying? It’s not closed. It’s just a matter of when they really feel like they wanna do the right thing ’cause we in our hearts kinda feel like we know what happened and we believe that they know what happened. You know, we’ll probably be the biggest case in the city’s history.” (“Arsenio”)

Evans also suggested the financial repercussion may likely have contributed to the LAPD’s lack of progress.

“So I’m sure – they don’t feel good about having to write a check that big. But for us, it’s not about that. We spend millions of dollars on lawyers fees, we’ve never gotten anything from it. It’s more about trying to do what’s right – for his family and his loved ones and his kids, you know. We definitely had gotten to a point where we realized that they may not ever happen and that’s really sad.” (“Arsenio”)

  1. I’m sorry but this sentence “famously fingered Suge Knight” should not be there at all!!lmao

  2. its sad to say we will never know who killed 2pac and biggie, , if a pop artist got killed i bet u they would find the killer in 1hour.

    • Modern times calls for modern technology. I get what you’re saying but this was 20 years ago.

      • yea, but they have the technology now, shit let lady gaga get shot, nigga they will shut down the whole united states haha. the killer will be found before they can even report it on the news.

        • Lol that’s up for debate. But that sounds likely. Hip hop artists have unsolved murders because black people are haters. Any random gangsta you come across has a motive to kill you. Especially if you hang out in the ghetto.. That’s my theory on why so many people die and shit is unsolved. Look at Chinx, look at a bunch of Chicago artists.. People can’t stand to see someone else make it.
