West Coast rapper Nipsey Hussle is the latest high-profile hip-hop artist to find himself in handcuffs after being arrested last night (August 29) in California.
According to reports, the bust went down in Los Angeles after cops raided a Hyde Park clothing store.
Emmias Ashghedom, known by his stage name Nipsey Hussle, was arrested at Slauson Avenue Clothing on the 3400 block of West Slauson Avenue around 11:30 p.m. According to the LAPD, officers had arrived at the location because of a probation complaint search. The man suspected of violating probation was taken into custody, as was Nipsey Hussle. (CSN Philly)
The arrest could possibly keep Hussle from performing at rap mogul Jay Z‘s Made In America multi-city festival this weekend.
Nipsey Hussle was booked on charges of obstructing a peace officer, LAPD Lt. Julius Guay said. Nipsey Hussle was scheduled to perform during day one of the Made in America festival in Grand Park Saturday. It is unclear if the arrest with interfere with his scheduled appearance. (CSN Philly)
Back in February, Nipsey had law enforcement after him.
Nipsey Hussle is officially a wanted man — and it’s all because the rapper skipped court for his career … which could now be derailed by an arrest warrant. Here’s the deal … Nipsey was charged with driving on a suspended license back in 2012, and a pretrial hearing was scheduled for Thursday afternoon … but Hussle didn’t show up. Nip says he hired an attorney to rep him while he finished out the last leg of his tour … but the lawyer wasn’t in court either — and it pissed off the judge enough to issue a warrant for his arrest. A month prior, Hussle’s camp spoke out following a Chicago concert shooting.
“Nipsey did perform in Chicago to a sold out successful show. Venue was cleared and Nipsey was on a bus heading back to hotel, when alleged shots were fired in radius of venue. Nipsey nor crew were involved in any altercations or incidents in Chicago.” (Statement)
