Young Money's Nicki Minaj may have to take a day away from the recording booth and deal with a bizarre lawsuit filed against her from a designer who wants a minimum of $30 million.
According to reports, a man feels he is responsible for providing Nicki with a handful of her now-iconic wigs.
Terrence Davidson claims in his lawsuit … he’s a big reason for Nicki’s success. He rewinds to 2010, when he created what he calls a panoply of “fresh, hip and unique wigs” … including the pink upper bun wig, the fox fur wig, the pink high top wig, the superbass wig and the half blond-half pink wig. Davidson says Nicki not only stole his designs and marketed them herself, she even talked him out of a multi-million dollar reality show deal because she claimed it would ruin their partnership. Davidson wants a minimum of $30 million. (TMZ)
Coincidentally, Nicki recently revealed her natural hair in a steamy Instagram photo.
It’s a brand new Nicki. The rap diva has debuted her new look on Instagram. In the sexy series of pics, she trades her colorful wigs for her natural black hair. “No perm. No extensions,” tweeted Nicki. The busty Barb grabs her breasts and ponytail, and sits at a mirror while wearing star-shaped pasties underneath a crocheted swimsuit. She sent her fans into cardiac arrest with the provocative pics. “My goodness. This look — It’s like i’m seeing her for the first time. It’s like she’s been COMPLETELY reborn,” tweeted one Barb, while another added, “Some of y’all don’t understand. This is like Christmas to some of us.” (Rap-Up)
In January 2013, Davidson released a statement to announce an end to working for Nicki.
“”I would like to inform the media and supporters that I’ve decided to step away as hair stylist and wig creator for Nicki Minaj. It has been an amazing experience offering me a chance to express my creativity and exhibit my love for the art form of wig design.” (Statement)
He also revealed what new ventures were on deck for himself.
“I have decided to part ways from Nicki Minaj because I would like to explore other opportunities within my own brand and re-energize my creativity through work in fashion editorial, beauty consultations, media personality, ‘how-to’ lectures and hair show development. I am very proud of the body of work built with Nicki Minaj and I appreciate the support over the years from fans who’ve expressed love for my craft. Look forward to seeing me larger than life in 2013” (Statement)
