Young Money superstar Nicki Minaj‘s brother has reportedly been indicted in a publicized child sexual assault case stemming from last year.

According to reports, Jelani Maraj now faces a felony sexual assault charge and could spend 15 years to life behind bars.

A grand jury has indicted Nicki Minaj’s brother on charges that he repeatedly raped a 12-year-old girl. The grand jury decided that there was enough evidence to charge newlywed Maraj – Nicki Minaj’s oldest brother and her employee – with sexually abusing the tween girl. They’d deliberated for about a month before handing down the decision April 4, according to court records. (Bossip)

Jelani entered a New York court back in December and received support from his mother.

Jelani Maraj, 37, showed up to to the Nassau County courthouse for a preliminary hearing with the judge and lawyers on the case to set a trial schedule, according to officials. A few days prior, reports claimed the alleged crime happened in April 2015.

Jelani’s charges are due to allegedly raping a child “he had access to” over the course of three months. The charge of felony rape stems from an April 1, 2015 incident, according to court documents obtained by HollywoodLife.com. If he’s found guilty, he faces between nine and 25 years in prison! There’s no word yet on if there will be a plea deal. (Hollywood Life)

Initial reports suggested Minaj posted the bail for her brother.

Court papers reveal the superstar singer put up the $100,000 bond that sprang Jelani Maraj, 37, from custody in Nassau County on Friday after he was accused of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual conduct against the preteen. The bond is backed by a two homes in Baldwin that are owned by Minaj — one of which is used by her brother and the other by her mother, Carol. (Page Six)
