Young Money superstar Nicki Minaj‘s brother is making headlines this week for reportedly being charged with rape.
According to reports, Jelani Maraj is accused of raping a child.
Maraj allegedly raped a 12-year-old … this according to Newsday. Nicki is close to her older brother, and even paid $30k to help foot the bill for his wedding back in August. It appears authorities claim the rape happened on Long Island, NY. That’s where Maraj was arrested and later released on $100,000 bail. (TMZ)
Maraj is expected to appear in court next week.
Jelani Maraj, 37, was arraigned Thursday on a first-degree rape charge and freed from a Nassau County jail on $100,000 bail. “The victim was someone he had access to,” a source close to the case said. Maraj is due back in court on Dec. 9. (New York Daily News)
Earlier this year, Nicki’s brother made headlines for having a publicized wedding.
Maraj had been in the news with his sister recently when he married longtime girlfriend Jacqueline Robinson on Aug. 22 at Coral House in Baldwin, where Minaj wore a red Alexander McQueen gown. (Newsday)
