Young Money’s Nicki Minaj has stepped forward to speak out on her status in the rap game amid a social media debate.
Nicki went on a mini-tirade against gossip site Bossip last night (December 11).
Bossip has since come forward to simmer down the controversy.
We don't dislike Nicki's music (well, some of it), but that's definitely their go-to rebuttal. https://t.co/T16t5feum3

— Bossip (@Bossip) December 11, 2015
Somehow our extremely general question about women rappers has turned into a very specific @NICKIMINAJ conversation. Gotta love this app…
— Bossip (@Bossip) December 11, 2015
Why would you assume that RTs mean we agree? https://t.co/tov4x6LTqX
— Bossip (@Bossip) December 11, 2015
The war of words stemmed from Bossip asking a question about the lack of mainstream female musicians.
#seriousquestion Why aren't there more mainstream female rappers?

Nicki was alright but she fell into that pop star category: using gimmicks to outshine her talent. The only difference between her and these pop artist was the fact that she had some talent. I really can’t think of any memorable verses besides Monster that I think she went for to toe and that verse was OK.
Man she better gone she ain’t went toe to toe with nobody they verses were better than hers Wayne is up for debate depending on the years b4 jail hell naw she bugging and Banks would wash her since she wanna be mentioned
i think nicki as a right to say her piece like everyone else, no matter what some will agree and some will not.
Maybe you don’t agree with it, but a lot of people, including me, think her verse on “Monster” was the best one! And need I remind you that was with both Kanye and Jay-Z on the track.
Monster was fire but we all know she’s overrated and she’s the only female artist well was at tht time she’s getting too much credit Safari deserve credit too
