After weeks of teasing fans with photos and visual teasers, Young Money's Nicki Minaj has finally unleashed her long-awaited, steamy "Anaconda" music video.
Nicki treated her fans to the not safe for work visual late Tuesday (August 19) night.
Over the course of the nearly five-minute video (which samples Sir Mix-A-Lot’s Baby Got Back), Minaj runs through a parade of not-so-subtle imagery: She eats bananas, sprays whipped cream on her chest, plays bongos on a backup dancer’s behind, and stands by as piña coladas slowly drip down coconuts. And then, of course, there’s twerking: in a jungle, a workout room, a pool, a white void – all culminating in a dimly-lit lap dance on a very satisfied-looking Drake. (USA Today)
Nicki posted some sultry on-set photos a couple days ago.
Nicki posted a string of photos on Instagram on Monday (August 18) while previewing the video, which is set to drop on Wednesday. In the stills, the Young Money Queen is all over Drake. And though he’s neither smiling nor drooling, we assume he was enjoying himself. (MTV)
Earlier this month, Nicki revealed a technical issue most likely contributed to “Anaconda” prematurely coming out.
“I wanted it out, and then the label came with this great radio plan to put it out next week. So what my fans don’t know is that we were actually going to put the record out August 11th. We were going to have this amazing promotion and have all this stuff leading up to it, and lo and behold the record leaked. We had already sent the song out to people like iTunes and Google and all of that. There was on particular app that didn’t delete it out of their system and by mistake gave it to their customers. It just was inevitable, the leak started happening online and so we had to just release it today.” (CBS Local)
Although only 15 seconds in length, Minaj left little to the imagination on what her “Anaconda” music video would showcase in early August.
