According to Minaj, her upcoming debut album, Pink Friday, will support Gotti’s claim.

The Lil Wayne protégé recently revealed that she has played material for Irv Gotti from her forthcoming debut Pink Friday, and that based on what she made him privy to, the likening to Ms. Hill isn’t just hot air. “Irv has been privy to hear things that I’ve done that the world hasn’t heard,” she told CNN. “Based on the music I have out now, that sounds like an absurd comment, but when ‘Pink Friday’ comes out, you will completely understand why Irv made that comparison.” (Rap-Up)

Gotti, known for steering the careers of Ja Rule and Ashanti at Murder Inc. Records, believes Nicki is a full package artist.

“The world has yet to see the best of Nicki Minaj. What she’s delivering to the world now is basically what they want. But I know that she’s a super talented superstar who can do anything at a high level–rap, sing, act, whatever she wants to do. This is just the beginning of Nicki Minaj. Her best is yet to come. In my opinion she is as talented as my other girl Lauryn Hill. They have completely different styles. But as far as the talent is concerned they both can do it all. Nicki just isn’t showing it yet ’cause she doesn’t want to. But world be prepared ’cause she’s the truth.” (VIBE)

Recently, Kanye West said Minaj is one of the best rappers out right now.

Kanye said Young Money star Nicki Minaj could be one of the greatest hip-hop stars ever. “This is gonna be such a big statement, and such a big thing to fill: The scariest artist right now is definitely Nicki Minaj. I think she has the most potential to be the number-two rapper of all time. Nobody’s gonna be bigger than Eminem.” When asked what being the “number-two rapper of all-time” meant, he said, “Everything! Having a whole network one day. Everything that comes with it.” He also confirmed that Nicki is on his album, as is G.O.O.D. Music artist Kid Cudi. (MTV)

Despite disappearing from the music scene for over a decade, Hill is most renowned for her 1998 album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

The momentum finally culminated at the February 1999 Grammy awards, during which Hill took home five trophies from her 11 nominations, including Album of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, Best R&B Song, and Best R&B Album; the most ever for a woman. In an interesting twist, Hill’s album proved to be such a commercial and critical success that it shed doubt on the Fugees‘ future. Their in-fighting became common knowledge, and matters were complicated when many fans interpreted Miseducation’s various anti-stardom rants as a public dissing of co-Fugee Wyclef Jean. (All Music)

Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday is scheduled to drop Tuesday, November 23rd.
