Young Money's Nicki Minaj is making headlines this week after reportedly being sued for thousands over a late National Basketball Assocation (NBA) performance a few years ago.
According to reports, the lawsuit dates back to over three years ago.
Nicki Minaj was sued in Manhattan’s Supreme Court Wednesday for breaching an agreement she made in 2011. The suit was filed by Cahuenga, Inc. on behalf of production company IMP Entertainment and it states the rapper was scheduled to perform for one hour at Hollywood’s Siren Studios on February 19, 2011 at midnight, but that she arrived 90 minutes late and was onstage for about 30 minutes. Reports also claim she received over $50,000 to perform at the publicized event.
The plaintiff claims Minaj, 31, was paid $53,050 to sing at the event and that her incomplete performance “defeated the entire purpose of the agreement.” The suit asks for the “Super Bass” singer to reimburse the production company for the fee she received as well as for other unspecified damages. Minaj suddenly left while in the midst of singing “Roman’s Revenge,” and although the departure was covered in several of the reviews for the event, most critics said her actions were irrelevant because the public enjoyed the rest of her performance. Outside of the legal drama, Nicki is expected to perform at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards show.

Recently, Minaj revealed YMCMB label mate Drake applauded her decision to introduce new topics on her upcoming solo album.
“So sonically I think the album sounds so amazing. And there are so many surprises on the album. I had Drake come by the studio the other day and he was like “Omg, you’re talking about new stuff, I’m so proud of you.” And that’s what I’m most excited about. I’m speaking about new things on this album. I’m excited I’m not allowing anyone else to define what the album is going to be. I’m comfortable, its not going to be rushed, I’m taking my time. But overall the music just sounds really, really great. There’s no substitute for that.” (Radio)
