Hollywood actor Nick Cannon has offered up some words of wisdom to rap star Kanye West in light of Yeezus proclaiming himself a genius in multiple recent interviews.
Although playful, Nick told Yeezy he should think twice before proclaiming his intellectual greatness.
“@kanyewest Real geniuses don’t have to tell everyone that they are a geniuses,” Cannon tweeted November 27.
“I love @KanyeWest like a brother & been one of his biggest fans & friends since day 1, but Genius is eternal patience.”
“Maybe I should’ve just called him and told him that in private. Oops, my bad! Twitter-stream-of-consciousness LOL”
“I just got online and saw all these @KanyeWest interviews and I was inspired to rant. Oh well, going back to Thanksgiving. We cookin’ son!” (Nick Cannon’s Twitter)
Cannon later said his Twitter page was hacked but stood behind the Kanye tweets.
“I’ve been talking to the kid that hacked me. His account is @woahbestpuns He’s only 17 so I can’t hunt him down and cut his fingers off!,” Nick tweeted November 28.
“Oh but don’t think it was the hacker saying all that crazy stuff about Thanksgiving and Kanye. That was me! LOL” (Nick Cannon’s Twitter)
Recently, Def Jam Records co-founder Russell Simmons wrote a blog post about Ye’s genius characteristics.
“We will no longer be lost in the world and we will survive in this America. I believe these truths to be self-evident. That is what Kanye West told me on a cold morning in New York City just seven days ago. It is his genius, his tenacity, his creativity, his relentlessness and his madness, that will allow us all to one day have the ability to touch the sky.” (Global Grind)
Last month, Kanye detailed how much of a genius he believes he was.
“I would write creative genius when I go through the airport … I would put that on customs [forms], where you put what your title is, except for two reasons: it takes too long to write and sometimes I spell the word genius wrong,” he continued. (Hot 107.9)
