Nick Cannon Defends Amber Rose Relationship, Points Out Her “Iconic Status”

NCredible Enteratinment head Nick Cannon recently dished on signing former video vixen Amber Rose to his company and pointed out what qualities stood out the most.

Cannon noted Rose’s viral impact and her ability to appeal to various lifestyles encouraged them to make a business arrangement.

“If you look at her social media, if you look at her following, the people who are already attracted to doing business with her, they care about her curation and her tastemaker quality and at the same time her iconic status in just a short time that she’s been able to be in the public eye. Now it’s really catching people’s eyes,” Cannon explained when asked about signing Rose to NCredible Entertainment. “I got a lot of things brewing. A lot of people are in the middle of the deal and they’ve asked me to make the press release when it’s time but it’s really a multi-tier branding process. Everything from consumer products to television and film, there are all of these different things that you’ll see due to her brand.” (Wall Street Journal)

Approached by a paparazzo, Cannon recently explained why the media’s romantic coverage of him and Rose was going in the wrong direction.

“It was fun. We were having a good time,” Nick said referring to his recent outing with Amber. “[Our amusement park ride] wasn’t all to [ourselves], there were other people. You know what it was? The best part of every roller coaster is on the front or the back, so, all of those people were on the [ride] with us but nobody wanted to sit in the middle. So we were out there with about 20 people. [Just friends?] Yeah man, let’s talk about this. Would I be out there at amusement parks and all over the place with somebody I was trying to creep? Nah, that’s just my people. I’m her manager and she’s also like, we cool.” (TMZ)

Recently, Rose dismissed Cannon hookup gossip and spoke on her pending divorce from rap star Wiz Khalifa.

“I was like, ‘D*mn, Nick, that’s cool for you, but it ain’t happening.’ I’m focused on my son and my work. I really don’t have time for a man. I’m going through a divorce and technically I’m single, but I’m just not ready for [that].” (People)

Last month, Nick addressed his status with Rose amid his own split from R&B wife Mariah Carey.

Just a month and a half after publicly confirming his separation from Carey, Cannon says he no plans to move on in another relationship any time soon. “I think the wound’s too fresh to even be thinking about that right now,” he told Dish Nation’s Rickey Smiley. “That’s someone that I’m managing,” Cannon said of Amber Rose. “I’m really excited about everything she’s about to do in her career and building her brand. I manage a lot of people, but obviously that’s one, because she’s in the news as well and kind of a public figure, people just kind of latched onto that as the media does at times.” (Dish Nation)
