New Orleans’ Dee Day Says Lil Wayne Inspired His Weekly Grind: “I Need To Prep Myself To Be In That Work Ethic”

Written By Cyrus Langhorne

[With 2016 in full gear, New Orleans native Dee Day talks to SOHH about artists like Lil Wayne motivating him to release a new music video every week through 2017.]

The weekly music video rollout really came from me just trying to do something different. I just watched other artists in the South and everywhere to see how they’re really working hard and were at a similar place that I’m at and shot up real quick.

I see it’s really about being consistent. The game is so saturated right now and I feel people really want to know you’re going to be here for the long run and that you’re not going to quit rapping next year.

I wanted to show everybody I’m here for the long run and I can consistently put out quality music and not only for that but also for myself.

I feel like artists like Lil Wayne and different artists in the game, they do two to three songs a day. I need to prep myself to be in that type of work ethic so when I get there [to their level], I’m ready.

So I’m dropping a visual every week this year, that’s going to be fifty-two music videos this year and I’m going to drop a new project every three to four months.
