According to the latest reports, ID-PR actually decided to part ways with the platinum-selling rap star.

In the original report above, we erroneously reported that Drake fired ID-PR. ID-PR has since reached out to Complex to confirm they were not fired, but resigned from working with Drake. (Complex)

The PR company issued a formal statement on its partnership coming to an unexpected end Thursday (February 27).

In a statement to Billboard, ID said, “Drake is an incredibly talented artist and we’re proud of our results for ‘Nothing Was The Same’ and Would You Like A Tour? We wish him the best.” Drake had been working with ID for the past year to handle publicity for third album “Nothing Was The Same,” as well as his current Would You Like A Tour? which wraps March 26 with three dates at London’s O2 Arena. According to a source, ID initiated the split soon after the Rolling Stone debacle. (Billboard)

Reports claimed Drizzy had built a reputation for being a hard act to manage.

Drake has been known to be difficult to manage when it comes to print interviews, setting availabilities for photo shoots and interviews often at the last minute and forcing magazines like Rolling Stone and others to make difficult decisions at press time, according to multiple sources who’ve worked with Drake on previous features. Earlier this month, Drake released an open apology and explained where his unexpected Rolling Stone rant stemmed from.

“With today being the 5th anniversary of So Far Gone I figured it’s fitting to return to it’s place of its origin in order to clear the air about an extremely emotional day. I completely support and agree with Rolling Stone replacing me on the cover with the legendary Phillip Seymour Hoffman. He is one of the most incredible actors of our time and a man that deserves to be immortalized by this publication. My frustration stemmed from the way it was executed. The circumstances at hand are completely justifiable (on the magazines behalf), but I was not able to salvage my story or my photos and that was devastating. They ran the issue without giving me a choice to be in it or not. I would have waited until it was my time because I understand the magnitude of the cover they chose but I just wasn’t given that option and that made me feel violated.” (October’s Very Own)
