Louisiana rapper Kevin Gates could see freedom sooner than people think. The hip-hop artist is reportedly up for parole in 2018 despite receiving a 30-month prison sentence.
According to reports, Gates is serving his time in an Illinois facility and could get released in June 2018.
The Billboard chart-topping rapper Kevin Gates, sentenced last month to 30 months in prison after pleading guilty to a gun charge in Chicago, is serving his time at the East Moline Correctional Center. The 31-year-old Gates — whose legal name is Kevin Jerome Gilyard — of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is projected to be released in June 2018, according to Illinois Department of Corrections online records. Last week, Kevin made headlines after receiving a 30-month sentence on a gun conviction.
The Cook County Sheriff’s Office in Illinois says Kevin appeared in court Wednesday and pled guilty to his original charge of felony gun possession. Remember, the outstanding weapons-related warrant popped up the same day he completed his sentence in Florida for kicking a woman in the face at one of his shows. The warrant was issued because Kevin failed to appear in court for the 2013 gun case. (TMZ)
