Award-winning producer, Jonathan Hay — noted for his chart-topping remake of Eric B. & Rakim’s “Follow the Leader”– released Hit ‘Em Up through his startup, Tech Row Records.
Jonathan Hay told SOHH: “We licensed Hit Em Up with the original writers and publishing through our distributor Fat Beats. Same way we did before with Eric B. & Rakim and Biggie.”
Controversial Co-Sign from Rival Bloodline
Suge Jacob Knight, the son of jailed Death Row Records CEO, Suge Marion Knight, shared his support on Instagram for the re-release — a controversial move considering the lyrics of the song helped ignite the deadly East Coast/West beef between his father and Biggie. Ironically, Hay also worked last year with Biggie’s son, CJ Wallace, on “Big Poppa (House Mix)” that went viral.
