Rap veteran Nelly isn’t ready to put his recent rape case nightmare away. The hip-hop artist is reportedly going after the woman who accused him of a headline-generating sexual attack in Washington.

According to Nelly’s attorney Scott Rosenblum, he is going after the alleged victim to save his image and make up for his economic loss.

“The formal close of the investigation into the false allegations made against Nelly is of course welcome – however expected. We were confident, that what our investigation revealed from the outset of this allegation would ultimately be clear and Nelly would be vindicated. A thorough investigation did show Nelly was a victim of deceitful allegation devoid of credibility. Credible evidence did show this accuser to be deceptive. We have been in constant communication with the King County authorities and welcomed and appreciated the diligence in which the authorities proceeded. Leaving no stone unturned. Nelly recognizes the need for women who are victims of sexual assault of any kind to be heard and our existing systems changed […] However, this type of reckless false allegation cannot be tolerated as it is an affront to the real survivors of sexual assault. Nelly has suffered very real damage to his reputation. He has incurred economic loss and painfully has watched his family suffer. As a result Nelly is planning to proceed with litigation as the first step in restoring his reputation.” (Statement)

Earlier in the week, rap veteran T.I. saluted Nelly for having the rape case against him dropped.

After weeks of mounted drama, Nelly’s case finally came to a sudden stop due to the alleged victim’s refusal to cooperate.

Today, the charges have been dropped by the prosecutor’s office, TMZ reports. The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s office reportedly told TMZ that the “alleged victim’s refusal to cooperate made it impossible for them to go forward.” Pitchfork has reached out to Nelly’s representatives and the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further comment. In mid-October, buzz developed about the victim not having any interest in testifying against Nelly.

Nelly’s rape accuser refusing to testify doesn’t change a thing for cops who are powering through with the investigation … TMZ has learned. Law enforcement sources in Washington State tell us police in Auburn are undeterred by the accuser’s noncooperation with the investigation. We’re told Auburn PD is still gathering evidence and plans to present the case to the prosecutor’s office. (TMZ)
