St. Lunatics leader Nelly‘s legal muscle has stepped forward to address his publicized weekend arrest in Tennessee on drug and gun possession charges.

According to reports, Nelly’s attorney said the drugs did not belong to his client.

Nelly’s lawyer, Scott Rosenblum, tells TMZ there were 15 to 20 people who had access to the bus prior to the stop and there were multiple people on the bus when cops searched it. Rosenblum seems to take issue with cops on the meth issue saying, “a small quantity of [MDMA/Ecstasy] was discovered.” Rosenblum adds, “Nelly will not be associated with the contraband that was allegedly discovered.” (TMZ)

The drug bust went down Saturday (April 11).

Rapper and reality TV star Nelly is facing felony drug charges after being arrested in Tennessee on Saturday. Tennessee Highway Patrol said in a news release that Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Haynes, was pulled over about 9:20 a.m. because the bus he was riding in failed to display a U.S. Department of Transportation and International Fuel Tax Association sticker. Police found multiple drugs and handguns on Nelly’s tour bus during their investigation.

Trooper Loftis, assisted by THP Sgt. Donald Jennings, then conducted a probable cause search of the bus. The troopers discovered in the sleeper area a plastic bag that contained five colored crystal-type rocks that tested positive for methamphetamine, as well as a small amount of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. Further investigation revealed approximately 100 small Ziploc bags that are commonly associated with the sale of narcotics and numerous handguns, including a gold-plated 50-caliber Desert Eagle pistol, a 45-caliber Tarus pistol, and a 500 magnum Smith and Wesson.
