Addressing a recent photo of himself and Ashanti at T.I.‘s wedding earlier this summer, Nelly explained their current marital status.

No it’s safe to say that we’re two friends that went to support our friends. We’re both friends of T.I and Tiny and we went down there to support them. Right now it’s safe to say that I’m a couple with my ‘5.0’ album (laughs); the person I’m dating right now is a girl by the name of ‘5.0’ and we’re planning to get married on November 16th so I’m inviting everybody to that wedding (laughs). Photos of the ex-couple hit the Internet in early August.

A bevy of celebrities celebrated the nuptials of Tiny and T.I. – including Jamie Foxx, Usher, Jermaine Dupri, Rihanna and her best friend, Melissa, and a host of others. Two celebrities that stood out were Nelly and Ashanti. The couple – who at one point battled rumors of marriage – split last year. But, over the weekend they were spotted holding hands in a sign that their relationship may be back on. How cute given they both have a lot in common these days. (BET)

Nelly and Ashanti split up roughly a year ago.

Nelly and Ashanti are kaput, the New York Daily News reports. Both music stars, who have been together since 2003, are said splitting up over different directions they want to take regarding the future of their romance. “Ashanti was ready to settle down, while her beau wanted to sow his wild oats,” the New York Daily News claims. Adding fuel to the break-up report, Nelly reportedly has been seen spending time together with model-actress Melyssa Ford in Las Vegas and Miami. (Ace Showbiz)

Aside from romance, Nelly is currently working on his upcoming 5.0 album.

Universal Motown will unveil the St. Louis rapper’s sixth studio album 5.0 on November 16. The club jam “Tippin’ in da Club,” produced by Dutch, sets the tone for the high-octane record. The song has already gone to urban radio, while the second single “Just a Dream” has been serviced to Top 40 stations. The latter was produced by Jim Jonsin and Rico Love. (Rap-Up)
