Big Facts

On Friday, DM went to Twitter and couldn’t contain himself. Mitchell used a dancing kid meme to acknowledge his clearance and also encourage followers to continue social distancing to help stop the spread.

“On a more serious note… let’s continue to practice social distancing and remember… even though you may not have symptoms you still may be infected!! Let’s keep everyone in our prayers and stay safe.”

High-Key Details

According to reports, both Mitchell and his fellow teammate Rudy Gobert are cleared of COVID-19. Earlier this month, they made headlines after becoming the first two NBA players to test positive.

Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert and guard Donovan Mitchell both confirmed they were positive for the coronavirus on March 11 via posts on social media. Those two, as well as the rest of the Jazz’s roster and personnel, were cleared by the Utah Department of Health on Friday, the team said in a statement. “The UDOH has determined that all Jazz players and staff, including two who tested positive for the novel coronavirus, no longer pose a risk of infection to others,” wrote Aaron Falk on UtahJazz.com. Wait, There’s More

In mid-March, Mitchell updated fans on his condition. Donovan gave supporters an idea of how he had spent time in quarantine playing video games by himself.

“Donovan Mitchell here. Just want to say thank-you guys for your continued support. It means a lot to me. I feel fine. Things are going well. I’m just taking the proper precautions as told to me by the health authorities. I gotta isolate myself. Solo in here, playing video games all day. Can’t wait to get back out there on the floor and playing in front of the best fans in the world. Really miss playing in front of you guys and I’ll see you guys soon.”

Before You Go

Earlier this month, Brooklyn Nets’ Kevin Durant and three other players tested positive for coronavirus. Instead of staying mum, KD came forward to address the situation.

The organization is currently notifying anyone who has had known contact with the players, including recent opponents, and is working closely with state and local health authorities on reporting. All players and members of the Nets travel party are being asked to remain isolated, closely monitor their health and maintain constant communication with team medical staff. The health of our players and staff is of the highest priority to the organization and the team is doing everything within its power to ensure that those affected receive the best care possible.
