New York rapper Nas just took a walk down memory lane. The hip-hop veteran went to social media this week to remember his past days with late friend Prodigy.

Last night, Nasir Jones went to Instagram with a rare shot of himself and Mobb Deep.

In mid-August, rap star Rick Ross remembered Prodigy’s life during a Billboard Hot 100 Festival performance.

Rozay didn’t address the crowd much, but he knew how to conduct a somber moment. Towards the end of the hour-long set, he tipped his hat to Prodigy and let his DJ blast a little bit of Mobb Deep’s “Shook Ones, Pt. II.” Right after, he shouted out Linkin Park’s recently deceased vocalist Chester Bennington while “Numb” blared over the speakers. (Billboard)

In early August, an official cause of death surfaced for Prodigy.

The Clark County Medical Examiner has made the determination after completing its investigation into Prodigy’s June 20 death. As TMZ first reported, he was in a Las Vegas hospital when he choked on an egg. Prodigy was in the hospital getting treatment for sickle cell anemia — which he’d battled his entire life, and had flared up immediately following a performance in severe Las Vegas heat. (TMZ)

In July, New York rapper Pete Rock shared a vintage Mobb Deep pic.
