New York rapper Nas is reportedly heading to BET to bring his life story to the small screen. Reports claim the popular network has ordered Nasir Jones’ “Street Dreams” TV pilot.

According to TV buzz, the show will focus on his rags to riches story.

EXCLUSIVE: BET, coming off ratings records for its New Edition miniseries, has given the green light to another music-infused period scripted project based on the story of a famous performer. The network has ordered a pilot for Street Dreams, an hourlong series from Rush creator Jonathan Levine. It is executive produced by rapper Nas on whose life the project is based. (Deadline)

Recently, Nas named his current Top 5 modern day hip-hop artists.

“J. Cole, Kendrick [Lamar], Drake, [Lil] Wayne, Rick Ross.”

Over the past few months, Nas has saluted New York legends like DMX, DJ Red Alert and Marley Marl.

Last year, Nas credited hip-hop stars Drake, J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar for keeping hip-hop alive.

“[Hip-hop’s] in a better place because it gave birth to Kendrick, J. Cole, Drake and a few other great, great artists. All three [remind me of them]. Yeah, yeah, definitely [they reach out to me] which is crazy because they inspire me. So Drake said something on his first album about me, in the linear notes, and J. Cole made an interesting song about me and Kendrick has said some really positive words. He gave me a shout-out when he won his Grammy. So they inspire me.” (“Any Given Wednesday”)
