Nasty Nas also explained his motivation for blessing ESPN with his presence.

“Amazing night and honor to be in the building with all those men and women,” said Nas in an exclusive statement sent to XXL. “They have always supported me and last night was about me supporting them.” In front of sports superstars such as the Eli Manning and Justin Tuck of the Super Bowl champion New York Giants to the NBA’s Steve Nash and NFL’s Tim Tebow, Nas ripped into performances of “Nasty,” “The Don” and “Summer On Smash.” (XXL Mag)

The rap star also received some on-stage support courtesy of hitmaker Swizz Beatz.

Hip Hop was represented at the 2012 ESPYS with Nas and Swizz Beatz teaming up for a performance. Nas and Swizz Beatz broke news of their impending performance via Twitter Wednesday, saying “life is good.” “About to hit that ESPY stage with my brother Nas,” said Swizz Beatz. “Summer on smash.” Performing before an audience that included Tim Tebow, Drew Brees, Jeremy Lin, and Danica Patrick, Nas and Swizz Beatz debuted music that will be featured on Nas’ forthcoming album. He also joked with newly acquired Los Angeles Laker Steve Nash at the event.

“Steve I got copies for u right now!!! RT @SteveNash: Esco!! Cant wait for the album!,” he tweeted July 11th. (Nas’ Twitter)

Last spring, Mr. Jones released an NFL Draft commercial which premiered on ESPN.

With the first two picks in the 2012 NFL Draft, ESPN selects Nas and Gary Clark Jr. The sports cable network said Thursday that the rapper and guitarist will collaborate on music for its live coverage of the NFL Draft from April 26-28 at Radio City Music Hall in New York. “I know this from experience: every rookie has the chance to become a Hall of Famer,” Nas said. “It’s why we never miss a game, even a play. Props to the NFL and ESPN for keeping us hooked on professional football all year round.” (Hollywood Reporter)
