New York rap veteran Nas is out here putting some respect on MC Shan‘s name. The hip-hop pioneer has saluted Shan for helping pave the way for artists like himself.
Last night, Nasir Jones went to Instagram to speak up on Shan’s greatness.

Over the weekend, Nas reflected on the impact late hip-hop radio deejay Mr. Magic had on him.

Prior to dying October 2009 from a heart attack, Magic made a name for himself in the hip-hop radio scene.
Mr. Magic, born John Rivas, was the first host on commercial radio to devote a program exclusively to rap when his “Rap Attack” began broadcasting on WBLS-FM in New York in April 1983. Disco and funk were then fading, and rap was emerging as a rebellious new art form in the streets, housing projects and parks of New York City. (New York Times)
A few weeks ago, Nas shared his own stash of never-before-seen hip-hop pics.
