Rap veteran Nas is reportedly being forced to pay over $15,000 per month for ex-wife/singer Kelis‘ home mortgage.
Details on the legal terms and payment plan have been released online.
TMZ obtained legal docs in which Nas concedes he owes Kelis a skosh less than $300,000 in spousal support. But it seems the most pressing problem is the mortgage for the home Kelis is living in — Nas is behind $52,989.22. So Nas’ lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, filed a payment plan with the court, in which the rapper agrees to pay $17,500 up front, and then pretty much double the $7,800 mortgage payment each month to catch up. It’s pretty amazing — Kelis’ lawyer, disso queen Laura Wasser, has claimed Nas raked in $244,826 a month. (TMZ)
In an interview earlier this month, Nas confirmed that his marriage was over and showed that he covered his Kelis tattoo with a lion’s face.
“Oh my god, ladies I’m single. [laughs]…I was going through it.”Nas’ tattoo originally showed Kelis topless with jeans on and now, however, the tattoo still rests next to his daughter’s name, Destiny, but has a lion/bear’s head on top of her body. There is no further word on whether or not Nas plans to cover the rest of her body. (Bootleg Kev)
Nas and Kelis officially parted ways last month after being married nearly five years.
Power couple Nas and Kelis announced that they were calling it quicks back in April 2009 despite being pregnant with their first son together. Since then they have gone through a nasty legal battle over child support and child custody. Finally, a little over a year later, the marriage has officially come to a close. According to TMZ, the divorce has become official, however the issues of child custody and support still remain. Right now Nas has to pay around $10,000 a month, which is a fee that he claims is too much for him. How long can they possibly draw this thing out? (Hollywood News)
Recently, Kelis denied reports of of reconciliation with Nas.
“It wasn’t really a bitter divorce,” Kelis told controversial blogger Perez Hilton in an interview. “Sometimes [we’re on friendly terms.] [laughs] No, [we didn’t reconcile], not reconcile in the sense like we’re back together. But I mean, you know, we had about eight years. Yeah, I am [seeing someone]. [It’s been going on] for a little while. It’s going great. He’s not [a musician.] [Famous?] I guess it depends on who you ask. [laughs]” (Perez TV)
