Rap veteran Mystikal has no plans of pleading guilty to multiple charges related to a 2016 incident. This week, the hip-hop artist has reportedly pleaded not guilty in court.
According to reports, Mystikal appeared in court Monday (December 19) to proclaim his innocence.
Michael Lawrence Tyler, a 46-year-old Prairieville resident whose performance name is Mystikal, faces one count each of first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping. Tyler has been in Caddo Correctional Center since surrendering to authorities Aug. 21. His next court date is Jan. 18 and could include a motion to reduce his $3 million bond, the Caddo district attorney’s office reports. (KSLA News)
Reports claim the incident allegedly happened in October 2016.
Tyler and an accomplice were indicted in September for an assault that allegedly occurred outside a Shreveport, Louisiana casino in October 2016 when the former No Limit artist was in town for the Legends of Southern Hip-Hop Tour. (SPIN)
In mid-August, Mystikal publicly spoke out on his publicized legal nightmare.
Some reports claimed the alleged rape victim had possibly lied about what happened.
Tenichia Wafford is wanted because cops say she tried to strong-arm the alleged victim into dropping charges that Mystikal and another man raped her in October of last year in Louisiana. Tenichia admits she called the woman, but only because they were friends, and that’s when the alleged victim told her there was no rape. It’s unclear if Tenichia is saying the alleged victim stated there was sexual contact with consent or no sexual contact at all. Tenichia says she recorded her conversation with the alleged victim.
