[With summer love around the corner, R&B diva Mya talks to SOHH about the throwback essence that makes up her recently released “Smoove Jones” EP.]

The “Smoove Jones” project/EP has influences of the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s to date.

All of those are evident. Then you have the “Ol’ Skool Joints” like “One Man Woman” that has several influences from the Isley Brothers to Prince to Mint Condition.

You’re taking 70’s, 80’s and 90’s on “One Man Woman” because it’s a composition and has a live band element. On “Circle of Life,” I would say it’s more so 70’s because it takes a little disco.
