Without hesitation, Thugga immediately credited Young Money’s Lil Wayne for molding his style.

“Wayne, Wayne and Wayne. The fact that the n*gga got 100 M’s and he still rap everyday, it’s amazing,” Thug said in an interview. “Rich Gang to the death. Big shout out to [Gucci Mane]. He was a big help to my career. But, I’m with Rich Gang and that’s how we gone turn it up… [Cash Money’s Baby] is like a real father figure.” (The FADER)

Recently, Young Thug revealed he is no longer signed to Gucci Mane’s imprint.

One of the things Thug spoke on is his current label status. “Rich Gang,” Thug said, adding that while he is grateful for the help Gucci Mane has given him to launch his career, he is no longer signed to Brick Squad. This contradicts a previous report by Billboard magazine that Thug was currently signed to Atlantic Records under the Brick Squad imprint. (Complex)

Recent reports suggested Thug’s current label status rested with Gucci.

However, Billboard has learned that Young Thug is still signed to 1017 Brick Squad/Atlantic. (Atlantic, which is working the single to radio, asked Billboard to credit the song to Asylum/Atlantic on the charts.) When asked to clarify the rapper’s status, an Atlantic representative says, “We are extremely excited about Young Thug but we do not comment on artist contracts.” (Billboard)

Earlier this month, Young Money president Mack Maine said Thug was a part of the family but had not necessarily signed on any dotted lines.

Today Mack Maine spoke on the status of Cash Money and Thug for Vlad TV, saying that Thug has been adopted by the label. He goes on to expand upon this by saying that he’s been working closely with him. He makes sure not to outright confirm a signing, so we’ll have to wait just a little longer to see what transpires.
