New York rapper Azealia Banks has raised eyebrows after revealing her short stint as an adult dancer prior to blowing up in the hip-hop scene.
Banks said the success of 2011’s “212” hit helped her leave stripping behind.
She tells The Daily Beast, “Strippers make way more f— money than a lot of people working desk jobs. They’re walking out of there with $1,200 a night. Now me, with my little butt and my little A-cup, it wasn’t happening like that. I worked at this little strip club and it was a low point, but I wanted some fast money. I was such a chicken in the strip club. It was not my thing at all. I was there for just two weekends, and then I quit because 212 blew up.” (SF Gate)

Earlier this month, Banks treated fans to an unexpected new album release.
A long public back story shouldn’t eclipse the pleasures of Azealia Banks’s debut album, “Broke With Expensive Taste,” which she released suddenly online on Nov. 6. Over the summer, Banks talked about having full control of her career after parting ways with her music label.
“For awhile it was like, ‘What is she doing? She’s here, she’s there, she’s doing this, she’s saying this. When is the album coming out?’ So I’m really happy to get this project off. Cause I’ve already started working on a bunch of new stuff. I’m still connected to the [Broke With Expensive Taste] music, but I’m still somewhere else, with these other projects, because I know how quickly I like to move and my fan base likes to move. So I’m halfway, like one foot in Broke With Expensive Taste and one foot in the next project, and having all these other ideas. But I’m just happy that I can do whatever I want now.” (BuzzFeed)
Banks broke big news about becoming a free agent across Twitter in July.
