Oakland Athletics’ Bruce Maxwell has the entire MLB looking at him for making history this weekend. The rookie catcher has become the first major-league player to kneel during the National Anthem.
Maxwell sparked headlines Saturday (September 23) after taking a knee prior to the A’s game.
The product of a military family, Maxwell placed his hand on his heart and faced the flag during the anthem while taking a knee before the game against Texas. Teammate Mark Canha placed his hand on Maxwell’s shoulder. (SF Gate)

Earlier in the day, some high-profile NBA stars went off on President Donald Trump for name-dropping Golden State Warriors champion Steph Curry over a White House visit.
U bum @StephenCurry30 already said he ain't going! So therefore ain't no invite. Going to White House was a great honor until you showed up!

A #POTUS whose name alone creates division and anger. Whose words inspire dissension and hatred can't possibly "Make America Great Again"

Still wondering how this guy is running our country…. 🤔🤔🤔

With everything that's going on in our country, why are YOU focused on who's kneeling and visiting the White House??? #StayInYoLane

And I doubt he's man enough to call any of those players a son of a bitch to their face…

Thank you @jemelehill & @KingJames! Speak truth to power. Trump is a bum & a disgrace & it's never too early to get ready for impeachment.
