Former Hot 97 radio deejay Mister Cee recently talked about his past run at the iconic station and what delayed his departure.
In a new interview, Cee admitted longtime pal Funkmaster Flex encouraged him to stay put at Hot 97 for years.
“Honest to God it wasn’t hard because it was something I thought about five years prior. It was on my mind that I wanted to leave Hot 97 but the one person that kept holding me back—not holding me back, the person that kept saying, ‘Let’s stick this out’—was Flex. Funkmaster Flex was just like, ‘Please, let’s ride this out.’” (Hip Hop My Way)

Back in December, Cee issued a statement on his newest career stop.
“I AM EXCITED, HUMBLED, & BLESSED TO BE BACK ON THE RADIO WITH THE NEW RADIO 103.9 IN NEW YORK. TO BE A PART OF A NEW GROWING STATION GIVES ME A FRESH START IN MY RADIO CAREER,” Cee says of the transition in an exclusive statement to XXL. “SPECIAL THANKS TO KEN JOHNSON & RAPHAEL GEORGE FOR GIVING ME THIS OPPORTUNITY. ALSO A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU TO ANDREW VERAS AKA DOMINICAN DREW FOR PUSHING FOR ME TO BE A PART OF THE RADIO 103.9 FAMILY, I WILL NEVER EVER FORGET IT.” (XXL Mag)
Cee alerted fans of his decision across social media on November 21.
Prior to Cee’s alert, Funkmaster Flex broke the big news via Instagram.
