Monica also revealed that she recently heard some of Missy’s latest music, labeling it possibly her best efforts up to date.

“Missy is missing from music and hip-hop because there’s no one as creative, as dedicated,” said the R&B songstress, who collaborated with Missy on her latest album New Life. “She thinks outside the box, but at the same time, draws you in the box that she’s in. She’s able to make visuals of things that I’ve never even dreamed of. I think hip-hop really needs her right now.” She’s been lucky enough to hear some of Missy’s latest material. “I’ve heard some new music and all I can tell you is that Missy is at her absolute best when she’s at peace with herself and there’s no pressure,” she shared. “She’s been able to work on her record with a host of real talented people and reinvent herself all over again.” (Rap-Up)

Music executive Yandy Smith recently hit up SOHH and gave her opinion on Missy’s status in the game, having previously managed her at Violator.

I think what’s interesting about these artists and what makes them great is their ability to keep on reinventing themselves,” Smith told SOHH. “Missy really hasn’t been gone, she has manifested herself to Keyshia Cole, Jazmine Sullivan and Monica. All of those hit records that you hear, Missy has had a hand in them. She’s been busy writing and producing and being very instrumental in a lot of the hits that we’ve heard throughout the past couple years.” (SOHH)

Smith also said Missy is not pressured by current hot trends within the music industry.

“I think they know how to stay above that curve and they know how to keep reinventing their sound,” Smith added. “I know Missy doesn’t really listen to the radio. So she’s always locked in her studio creating from a place that’s in her own head. It’s not influenced by anything else, there’s no other sound that she’s trying to sound like.” (SOHH)

Recently, producer Timbaland revealed fans could expect a new album from her by the summer.

“Me and Missy are both coming with our albums at the same time, and it will be in June,” Timbo told MTV News in his Miami home February 3. It’s been three years since Timbaland released Shock Value II and seven years since Missy dropped The Cookbook. If all goes according to plan, fans won’t have to wait much longer. “Right now, we’re preparing to get both our videos, our first singles, shot kinda at the same time,” Tim said. “We want to do it as a movement and spontaneously.” (MTV)
