Music veteran Missy Elliott has fans eagerly anticipating her full-fledged return to hit-making after a major Essence Fest 2015 performance last night (July 4).
Missy lived up to the expectations with a special Independence Day set at the annual festival which included hits like “Hot Boyz.”
The highest moment of the performance came when she jumped into the crowd to turn things up with “Work It.” “We gon’ show New Orleans how we really get down,” she yelled while finding the pockets of the crowd with the most energy and wielding a microphone with her initials on it. She also brought out singer and protege of sorts Jazmine Sullivan. (ESSENCE)
Despite a strong reveal from close pal Timbaland, Missy denied having any solid dates on a new music release last week.
During the ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Music Awards last week, Timbo announced Missy’s new music plans.

Appearing on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” in April, Pharrell revealed he had been working with Missy.
“Shout-out to Virginia, [I’m working with] Missy Elliott. Yeah. Yes sir. Listen, her mind, the way her mind works, like, we’re in the studio and the things that she says and thinks about, and like her video concepts, I didn’t know that all of those video concepts were hers.
