Atlanta rap crew Migos have come forward to speak out on gossip and speculation suggesting their new “Jealousy” record is intended as a diss for Chicago rapper Chief Keef.

While he would not confirm the speculation, group member Quavo left the track open for interpretation.

“Like ya mama used to say, ‘If the shoe fit, that’s it,” Quavo of Migos told MTV News. It all became public on December 5 when Keef sent out a tweet that read, “Heard Migos sneak dissin No Talkin.” Migos member Offset responded with a now-deleted tweet that read “Will b in Chiraq Next Week Pull Up @ChiefKeef.” The ATL group responsible for 2013 rap favorites like “Versace” and “Hannah Montana” sparked tons of speculation when they dropped “Jealously” this week, with lyrics including, “Ain’t never did a sneak diss/ ‘Cause my hitman quick to put you on that hit list.” (MTV)

Regardless of what fans or Keef may think, the group said they are focused on bigger things than entertaining feuds.

“Honestly, it caught us by surprise,” Offset said of Keef’s original tweet. Migos mostly downplayed any notion of beef, echoing the song’s hook and refusing to get into a subliminal back and forth. “You know, people gonna take it however they gonna take it and put it however they wanna put it,” Takeoff added. “If you listen to the song, it’s self-explanatory. If [I’mma] do one, [I’mma] say ya name to keep it 100. Ain’t no need for me to be sneak-dissin’.” “We don’t do no sneak-dissin’,” Quavo concluded. “We make music, we get money.” (MTV)

Earlier in the week, various media outlets claimed “Jealousy” had Keef’s name written all over it.

The track, produced by Murda, leaves no question about Migos’s intentions or target. Over a pensive instrumental, the duo fires shots like, “Ain’t never did a sneak diss / ‘Cause my hitmen quick to put you on that hitlist,” and, “I’m gettin’ that cheddar my life is so better, f– n–a mad ’cause I’m a trendsetter.” The former line refers to a Chief Keef tweet that claims Migos had sneak dissed them in a song rumored to be ‘Brokanese.’ “Heard Migos sneak dissin No Talkin,” he says. Migos group member Offset downplayed feud chatter last week.

“Not entertaining rap beef ima street n*gga u lil boys is rappers !!!! Dis was yo dream !!!!! Dis was my way out,” Offset tweeted December 5. (Offset’s Twitter)
