Michigan Mayor Karen Weaver has reacted to hip-hop star Meek Mill donating to the water crisis efforts in the city of Flint this week.
Approached by a paparazzo, Weaver thanked Meek for caring about her city and said she would wait for other celebrities to join the effort.
“Yes, I sure would,” when asked if she would like to see other artists outside of Meek Mill donating to the water crisis efforts. “It’s wonderful to have that kind of support and getting him involved. I appreciate that. I would like [Michigan native celebrities] as well. You know it would be well appreciated – thank-you so much [Meek Mill]. I sure would like the opportunity to thank him and talk to him. Thank-you so much. I appreciate it, the residents of the city of Flint love you for that. [Am I waiting for Eminem next?] That’s right. Eminem, Kid Rock, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Anita Baker. [laughs]” (TMZ)
According to reports, Meek has 60,000 bottles of water going to a Michigan food bank.
Meek just donated to the Flint Child and Family Health Development Fund, which fights the adverse effects of ingesting lead-filled H20. He’s also sending 60k bottles of JUST Water to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. Our sources say Meek’s also been clocking hours doing motivational speeches and helping out at schools, homeless shelters and hospitals in his native Philly. (TMZ)
G-Unit‘s Tony Yayo, Jeezy and Chris Brown have all reacted to the water crisis on social media.

yeah he may care but why not months ago? Year or two ago? Why a month after he was in court for parole violation? Why a month after the judge was deciding the course of action? Why a month after he was in court apologizing to the DA for calling her a bitch in a song and saying he’s not that type of person. Again he may actually care……
ela – shut the hell up. the important thing is that he donated. i hate people that sit back and scrutinize good deeds. shut up.
