Meth also applauded Def Jam for helping promote the project.

“So far, with the promotion of this album, I ain’t have nothing to do with it,” Meth explained in an interview. “We’ve all been busy working — well, Rae’s been doing Cuban Linx [Part II], Ghost been promoting Wizard of Poetry, I had done like three f*cking movies last year so yeah, I mean, I’m glad someone in the building is taking it upon themselves to get the ball rolling so it’s a good deal right there because in the era we’re in right now, you gotta do all that sh*t yourself. I’m happy that Chris Bachalo did it, he’s official. I mean, his run on X-Men was one of the best…He’s professional with it, I would love for Chris to do my next comic book…” (Rap Radar)

Earlier this month, Raekwon spoke on the album’s overall importance to Wu-Tang.

“I’d say probably four or five months ago,” Rae said about the album’s recording process. “We just wanted to make another album that really represents our brand, which is the W. When you think of Wu-Tang, we’ve been in the business for damn near almost, what, 17 years? We just want to make sure that people still know that we didn’t go nowhere — musically, passionately about hip-hop. When you get records like this, it helps keep the W flag up high. You know what I mean? Like the American flag. We gotta take care of that flag. It was something that was going to happen sooner or later. Us three, we always work good together throughout the years. On a lot of records, me, Ghost, and Meth was always next to each other. If you look at [the Wu-TangClan] as being the Lakers, we are the MVPs of the team.” (Entertainment Weekly)

Last month, a MySpace posting from Ghostface’s website reached out to fans for help in choosing the album name.

“We Need a Group Name!!!!!,” the message read last night (January 8). “Help us out! As you know Ghostface Killah, Method Man and Reakwon are teaming up for an album dropping very soon, but Meth, Rae & Ghost need a name 4 the group. Txt MethRaeGhost to 66937 to name the band! If they chose UR name U can be in the liner notes (Ghostface Killah’s MySpace)

Raekwon recently said a mid-February release was being considered.

“Everything is a go from what I’m hearing,” he said in an interview. “It’s a record that’s gonna come out on Def Jam so…I really don’t have too much knowledge on it. I spoke to [Method Man] and he’s telling me by the middle of February the album should be already solidified. So, that’s what I’m hoping [is] gonna happen. We’ll see what Def Jam [will] do. I’m just coming in as a piece on the board just to really go in and do what I gotta do. But we gon’ see how they handle the business with that album…We still got more things that we wanna do. We ain’t never wrapped. We gon’ definitely make sure that we really give y’all a tight album, and [make sure that] everybody’s opinions and criticisms account for this record.” (Hip Hop DX)

The Wu-Massacre is slated to drop Tuesday, March 30th.
