Pointing Fingers

New Details Emerge

The statement, written on December 5th but released on December 13th, sheds light on the events of that fateful night and raises questions about the true culprit behind the incident.

In his statement, Tory Lanez’s bodyguard and driver, Jauquan Smith, explains that he was ordered to drive Lanez to Kylie Jenner’s house on July 12, 2020. After a couple of hours, he picked up Megan and Kelsey. As they left Jenner’s house, an argument ensued between Lanez and Megan regarding his alleged involvement with Kelsey. Smith recalls:

“Ms. Pete started the argument again, and Ms. Harris asked what was going on. Mr. Peterson [Lanez] told her that he and Ms. Pete had been dating and intimate. Ms. Harris was upset by this, as she and Mr. Peterson had been dating in the same manner, prior to any relationship with Ms. Pete. Ms. Pete and Ms. Harris began fighting.”

‘I Saw Ms. Harris With A Gun’

Furthermore, Smith alleges that during the altercation, he saw Kelsey with a gun in her hand. Lanez attempted to disarm her, leading to a struggle between the two.

Smith, still focused on pulling Megan away from the scene, did not witness who fired the weapon. Although Lanez was found guilty of shooting Megan, Smith’s statement raises doubts about the sequence of events and points towards Kelsey’s possible involvement:

“I saw Ms.Harris with a gun in her hand. Mr. Peterson ran from behind Ms.Pete and myself toward Ms. Harris. Mr. Peterson and Ms. Harris began struggling as Mr.Peterson tried to unarm Ms. Harris. I was still pulling Ms. Pete and did not see who shot the weapon,” Smith added.

Some users on Twitter (X), expressed their support for Lanez, asserting his innocence.

One user, @Ayo__Lawal, commented, “We been knew that. No reason she would’ve had gunpowder on her but Tory didn’t. This case was flawed and he should sue once it’s overturned.” Another user, @1ogos_, stood by their initial belief in Lanez’s innocence, stating, “I been said Tory Lanez was innocent from the jump. I never flipped on my opinion. I’ve had personal friends argue with me and try to put me down over my opinions. Meg ruined that man’s life over some lies.”

Megan Responds

In response to Smith’s statement, Megan took to Instagram Live on December 13 to address the claims made by Lanez’s bodyguard.

“Kelsey did not motherf*cking shoot me. Her main problem with me was ‘you won’t tell people i did’nt shoot you.’ I was like ‘Kelsey I don’t want to talk about this on social media at all.’ But now you won’t even get online to defend yourself. So that really just proves my point, either you took some money or your life is in danger!,” Megan said.

However, the “Cobra” rapper firmly denied Kelsey’s involvement in the shooting and threw a shot at Lanez, stating:

“I know who shot me, I said who shot me and that’s why tf you in jail.”

Smith said he wanted to present his side of the incident during the trial but the District Attorney was not ready to cross-examine him, and that they also did not call him during the holiday schedule.

Skipping Megan Thee Stallion’s Deposition: Kelsey Harris at Risk

Kelsey Harris, the former best friend of Megan Thee Stallion, may be in legal trouble for failing to show up for a scheduled deposition. The two former friends have been at odds since the July 2020 shooting incident involving Tory Lanez and the Houston rapper.

Megan Thee Stallion Issues Subpoenas To Harris

Shortly after Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years, it was reported that Megan Thee Stallion, real name Megan Pete, had issued subpoenas to Harris and her husband, Darien Smith, an executive at 1501. It is believed that Smith knew about the label’s attempt to sabotage Megan’s career.

Harris and Pete’s friendship turned sour after the incident where Megan was shot in the foot.

In a court motion, it was stated that Harris released a diss track titled “Bussin Back” in November 2022, where she disparaged Pete, which Megan believes 1501 approved. According to a court motion, it states:

“For example, 1501 has maliciously collaborated with the likes of Tory Lanez—the man convicted of shooting [Megan]—and others to disparage [Megan]. Smith, an executive for 1501, is married to Kelsey Harris, the female rapper who released a song on or about November 25, 2022, titled “Bussin Back,” where she raps “Way [Pete] did 1501, should’ve knew I couldn’t trust her” and “if I was the one with the gun you woulda heard about a murder.”

Court Document Requests

According to court documents, Pete wanted Harris to sever her connections with Lanez, Carl Crawford, and 1501, which the rapper has been entangled in a legal battle over finances and ownership.

She also requested all communications between Harris, Carl, and Lanez to be produced. The motion filed by Megan revealed that Harris was served a subpoena in May 2023 but failed to appear at the June 21 deposition.

Megan’s Lawyer Speaks Out

Megan Thee Stallion’s lawyer argued that Harris played a crucial role in the campaign to harass, intimidate, and disparage Pete. It is alleged that Harris collaborated with Lanez and other defendants in this scheme. Pete’s lawyer stated:

“Specifically, after [Megan] came forward against Tory Lanez for shooting and severely injuring her, Defendants teamed up with Lanez to harass, intimidate, and disparage Pete—including making threatening posts on social media. As part of their scheme, Defendants also appear to have collaborated with Harris.”

As a result, Megan is seeking to hold Kelsey accountable, potentially resulting in a fine or confinement. The judge has yet to decide on this matter.

Kelsey Nicole “Can’t Remember”: Court Breaks With Few Details From Megan’s Ex Bestie (Day 7)

Megan Thee Stallion’s ex-best friend, Kelsey Nicole Harris, offered a limited testimony on the 2020 shooting involving Tory Lanez today in Day 7 of the Megan vs Tory trial. Repeatedly responding with “I can’t remember,” Kelsey shocked the entire courtroom when she said she would “plead the fifth” and made what appears to be an immunity deal with the DA.

Kelsey Lawyered Up, Too!

Megan Thee Stallion’s former best friend, Kelsey Nicole Harris, stepped into the Los Angeles Superior Court to testify at the trial following the July 2020 shooting involving Megan and Daystarr “Tory Lanez” Peterson, who were also involved in a messy sexual affair.

Harris was seen walking in with her attorney. Upon taking the stand, her attorney announced to the courtroom that she was asserting her fifth amendment rights. Furthering the twist, the prosecution confirmed there was a deal made between Harris and the state for her to have immunity.

Lanez’s defense team looked surprised when Harris asserted her fifth amendment and was given “transactional immunity” — appearing to have made a deal with the District Attorney.

Harris was questioned by the prosecution, stating she “didn’t want to be there” and that she was presently struggling with a death and a bout of postpartum. As the testimony unfolded, George Mgdesyan, one of two of Lanez’s attorneys, asked for a short recess. Still, Judge David Herriford declined.

“Do I Have To Answer That?”

The prosecution also asked Harris if Lanez threatened to shoot her. She hesitated and asked the judge — “Do I have to answer that?”

Having to answer the question, Judge Herriford also allowed her to consult with her attorney, who appeared to give her a slight nod from a distance. Harris was then pulled from the courtroom to a hallway shortly after returning to the stand. Once on the stand, the district attorney repeated the same question, “Did Tory threaten to shoot you?”

She said she didn’t remember. Before any further questions were answered, the court broke for lunch.

During lunch, Lanez was seen walking out the back of the courthouse in a light brown suit paired with a black turtleneck.

The Fifteen-Minute Break

Shortly after the court commenced from lunch, the district attorneys picked up where they left off — “Did Tory threaten to shoot you?”

“I can’t remember,” Harris told the DA.

According to the District Attorney, Harris said, in previous interviews, that Lanez had threaten to shoot her. Harris responded by saying that a lot of the “stuff” she said during interview(s) was incorrect and that she doesn’t remember what she said.

She also said she “doesn’t remember” what happened the day of the shooting. The prosecution appeared frustrated with Harris’ statements, but continued the cross-examination by asking her about an alleged bribery on Tory’s behalf. The prosecution also asked if the one-million dollars Lanez had offered Megan and Harris was hush money and Harris responded, “No.” When asked what it was for, she said she didn’t remember. The court then went into a short 15-minute break.

Kelsey Doesn’t Remember

Following the 15-minute break, Harris was back on the stand but it seemed that all of the questions the district attorneys asked she replied with a — “I can’t remember.”

Harris also said the night of the shooting was something she couldn’t remember and called it a “drunk night.” She also added that the statements she made in September were not truthful. But when the prosecution asked her what parts of her statements were not truthful, Harris didn’t answer. The DA also asked if she was “paid off or bribed” by Lanez’ defense and she said, “No.”

The former Megan bestie also shared she no longer wanted to be in Los Angeles and that a lot had happened since September and amid those things she was in midst of making funeral arrangements for a loved one and had a sick baby at home.

Day seven ended with a series of questions and “I don’t remember,” responses from Harris.

Lanez’ defense is expected to cross examine Harris tomorrow with a meeting with Judge Herriford to discuss two pictures prosecution is presenting as evidence, but has not submitted to defense to review. This isn’t the first time evidence hasn’t been passed on to Lanez’ defense. During the jury selection, prosection mentioned a video they would submit as evidence, but Lanez’s lead lawyer, George Mgdesyan, pointed out they hadn’t reviewed said video.

Presiding Judge Herriford adjourned court until Dec. 14.

Day 6: Megan Cries: ‘I Wish He Would Have Shot Me Dead.’

Recently, Megan Thee Stallion said if she knew she was going to face such backlash — “I wish that he would have just shot me dead.” The defense questioned Megan regarding phone calls to the detectives on the case, her interview with Gayle King, and Instagram posts she had made since the shooting.
