Megan Thee Stallion sat down with “CBS Mornings” co-host Gayle King for her first TV interview addressing the alleged 2020 shooting involving Canadian rapper Tory Lanez. He pleaded not guilty to assault and weapon charges related to the shooting.
Megan The Stallion And Gayle King Discuss The Shooting
Megan sat down with Gayle King on CBS Mornings. It was her first television interview detailing the shooting incident that occurred in 2020, alleging that Tory Lanez shot her in the foot.
The H-town Hottie appeared to be distraught at times during the interview. Meg told a story of lying to police initially about the shooting to protect Lanez as well as everyone else present from “trigger happy” police that responded to the incident.
Meg stated, “It was an argument because I was ready to go and everybody else wasn’t ready to go, but that’s like normal friend stuff. We fuss about silly stuff all the time”
Meg said in the interview, “I never put my hands on anybody, I never raised my voice too loud. This was one of them times where it shouldn’t have got this crazy. So, I get out the car and everything happens so fast. All I hear is this man screaming, he said ‘dance bitch’ and he starts shooting, and I’m just like ‘oh my God.’ He shot a couple of times. He is standing up over the window shooting. And I didn’t even want to move. I didn’t want to move too quick, ‘cause I’m like ‘oh my God’ if I take the wrong step I don’t know if he can shoot something that’s super important I don’t know if he can shoot me and kill me.”
Gayle King asked the rapper if she and Lanez had an intimate relationship as many people have claimed, including Lanez.
Meg denied being sexually involved with Lanez and said their relationship was built on their grieving the loss of their moms. She claimed Lanez is making the accusations to deflect from him shooting her.
Hip Hop’s Whodunit
This horrible situation has unfortunately divided the hip-hop community. Many believe and support Meg’s claims. While others accuse her of fabricating the entire incident.
Fans on social media raised questions about the inconsistencies within the story.
A Twitter user identified as @GoldenMind93 tweeted a statement, “I don’t agree how Tory Lanez has been silenced and even arrested for speaking about his case but Meg The Stallion get to do public interviews.”
Another Twitter user, identified as @mj_sweetgirl130, offered their support to Meg. They tweeted, “I just saw the clip of Meg Thee Stallion’s interview and how she was talking about the sh**ting. Mf still keep saying she’s lying wtf?? If you still defending T*ry L*nez, that’ll never fly w me!!”
Many have strong feelings about this event. Tory Lanez has used diss records as his voice but has to claim the tracks are not about the Houston rapper to avoid being held in violation of any court gag orders.
