Maybach Music Group’s Meek Mill is speaking out. The hip-hop star has broken his silence from jail to address his publicized legal crunch.
In a new teaser clip from news reporter Lester Holt, Meek talks about his never-ending probation and getting told a simple jaywalking incident could land him behind bars for 10 years.
“No, I wouldn’t have believed that I would be on probation this long. I talk about they gave me 10 years of probation and I know, almost for sure in my mind, this will bring me back to prison. It was always a thought in the back of my mind that 10 years of probation would bring me back to prison because a technical violation is police contact. Like, with police contact, you donโt have to be charged with a crime, you donโt have to be found guilty of a crime, you can be sentenced to what you were sentenced for, like what I was facing. She said I was facing 5 to 10 years. She said, so if I was stopped by the police for jaywalking legally she has the right to give me 5 to 10 years.” (“NBC Nightly News”)

In a new interview, Meek’s ex-girlfriend Nicki Minaj addressed his stint and revealed her personal convo with Judge Genece Brinkley.
“You know what, I don’t want to talk about legal things but I will say you know, every now and then, anyway, I won’t go there. I’ll save some of those things for my album and I’m also shooting a documentary. What I will say now is – oh God – I will say that the judge in question did everything I asked of her. I can’t badmouth her because I met her personally and I know what she said to us and he knows that but of course I wouldn’t wish jail on anybody. But like I said, I’ll get into detail on that in the documentary and possibly on the album but what I will say made me shed tears was seeing his mother cry. That was the first time I was like, ‘Oh my God, I can’t take it.’ During the relationship, she was so sweet to me and even at the end when we both kinda knew it was too rocky, too bad to – she always, always showed me so much love. So I still care about her. I didn’t like seeing her cry the other day.” (Beats 1)
