Maybach Music Group’s Meek Mill is going to have a chance at freedom again. The jailed hip-hop artist is reportedly expected to appear in court this spring and reason why he should be immediately released from a 2-4-year probation violation punishment.

According to reports, Meek Milly is now set to appear in court on April 16 to hopefully have his conviction overturned.

PhillyVoice.com reports that the same judge who sentenced Mill to prison time has now set a post-conviction hearing for Mill’s lawyers to file an appeal to overturn his conviction. Philly.com reports that Mill’s lawyers are urging Judge Genece Brinkley to overturn the conviction based on contradictions between sworn testimony and the account of the arresting officer. (Fox 29)

Recently, Meek’s attorney Joe Tacopina reacted to a major revelation about the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office having a secret list of suspected corrupt cops.

“When you’re in the justice system and you have the power of the district attorney’s office, you have to present all the evidence: good, bad or indifferent. You can’t hide the [proof] and prevent defense lawyers from understanding that perhaps the officer that was the linchpin to your client’s case is somehow corrupt.” (HNHH)

This week, MMG boss Rick Ross referenced the drama surrounding an police officer allegedly lying to get Meek behind bars 10 years ago.

Ross actually referenced a The Inquirer story about an ex-officer accusing a former colleague this week of lying under oath a decade ago to get Meek pinned to gun and drug charges.

In a sworn affidavit, Jerold Gibson disputed the account of Mill’s arresting officer, Reggie Graham, the sole witness to testify against the rapper at his 2008 trial. Graham, Gibson said, falsely accused the then 19-year-old of pointing a gun at police as they attempted to arrest him outside of a suspected drug stash house in Southwest Philadelphia.
