Maybach O said he can respect anyone who places honesty over keeping things to themselves.

“It feels good when you can be honest, you can walk around with things that you don’t have to carry around anymore,” said Omarion. “And I feel like it might have been a burden for him. I feel like he can walk around and feel happy about who he is now. Anyone that has something they need to get off their chest, I respect.” (Rap-Up)

Last week, Ocean revealed the truth behind releasing his open letter on Indepedence Day.

He said that his open letter was written in December 2011 with a view to include it in the album sleeve notes in order to pre-empt speculation that might arise from some of its songs addressing men. “I knew that I was writing in a way that people would ask questions,” he said. “I knew that my star was rising, and I knew that if I waited I would always have somebody that I respected be able to encourage me to wait longer, to not say it till who knows when.” The Odd Future member also downplayed the risk in his coming out. “People are just afraid of things too much … Sure, evil exists, extremism exists. Somebody could commit a hate crime and hurt me. But they could do the same just because I’m black. They could do the same just because I’m American.” (Guardian)

Cash Money’s Jay Sean recently said fans should narrow in on Ocean’s content rather than his personal lifestyle.

The “Do You Remember” singer adds that the sexual preference of a singer should not be a factor when looking for new music. “When you listen to a song, just heard the voice and that song, you have no idea what that person looks like, what color they are, how old they are, you have no idea of their sexual orientation, none of that, so all you should judge is what you’re hearing,” he said. Earlier this month, G-Unit leader 50 Cent called out anyone who judges the singer based on his sexual preference.

“Anyone that has an issue with Frank Ocean is an idiot,” 50 Cent told MTV UK. “I think Frank Ocean is a talented artist, I think he’s created material that made me know his name, that impressed me, with things he said on a song like ‘Novacane.’ ” For Fif, Ocean’s efforts in the studio are way more important than his goings-on in the bedroom, and because Frank has delivered exemplary performances on record, his romantic revelation is a non-issue for the Get Rich or Die Tryin’ MC. “It could be revolutionary or it could be a tragedy,” he said before noting the timing of Frank’s announcement and his Channel Orange album release. “You can call it brave or you can call it marketing, because it was intentional; it wasn’t an accident.” (MTV UK)
