Hollywood’s Martin Lawrence is getting fans excited about a long-awaited Bad Boys flick coming together. The high-profile actor updated concerned supporters about the project’s status.
Appearing on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” last night (October 6), Lawrence hinted at the sequel possibly going into production next year.
“[What do people say to me] the most? It’s when we gonna do another Bad Boys? We’re looking towards, maybe, you know, March. Maybe. It may happen if we can get everybody together at the same time. I don’t think it’s no holdout. It’s just a matter of getting the script right and everything and doing it at the right time.” (“Jimmy Kimmel Live!”)
A couple months ago, reports claimed the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence-starring sequel to 2003’s Bad Boys 2 would come out in 2018.
Sony is still nailing down a production start date, hence it would never be ready by next summer for its June 2 date. No problem for the Culver City studio as the four-day Martin Luther King Jr. weekend of January 12, 2018, will do just fine. In its new spot, Bad Boys for Life will go up against 20th Century Fox’s Maze Runner: The Death Cure and Paramount animated feature Sherlock Gnomes. (Deadline)
Last spring, Hollywood producer Jerry Bruckheimer inked a new deal for a Bad Boys movie.
Will Smith and Jerry Bruckheimer have agreed to make “Bad Boys 3” … TMZ has learned. Sources connected with both Bruckheimer and Smith tell TMZ, the 2 have talked for hours in the last 2 days — 4 hours at dinner Tuesday night and a long lunch on Wednesday — to hash out the terms of the contract. They also spent time working on the script. (TMZ)
Months ago, Will Smith dished on his interest on the long-awaited Bad Boys 2 follow-up.
“You know what? I saw Martin a few days ago, a few weeks ago and I hadn’t seen him for about two years. We just looked at each other and we hugged and in that moment, we both knew we were making another Bad Boys. [laughs] So yeah, we’re definitely doing another one.” (BBC Radio 1Xtra)
