R&B veteran Mariah Carey has no shame in her game. The award-winning singer poked fun at herself following an uncomfortable New Year’s Eve live performance.
Carey went to social media early Sunday (January 1) and joked about what went down.

Carey sparked headlines after appearing on a televised New Year’s Eve special.
Appearing on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest, Carey took to the stage in New York City’s Times Square to sing a medley of hits. Entering via a tunnel of feathers, she belted out NY classic “Auld Lang Syne,” yet something was clearly wrong from the beginning: her lips weren’t quite in sync with the vocals. (Independent)
Mariah also let out some clear frustrations during the set.
“I’m trying to be a good sport here,” a visibly frustrated Carey said as she stopped singing and tried to find her place, explaining to the crowd that her vocal track was missing and she couldn’t hear through her ear piece. She opted to “let the audience sing.” Her followup performance of “We Belong Together” similarly ended with the singer pacing the stage and refusing to continue lip syncing, as certain pre-recorded bits of her signature high notes rang out. “It just doesn’t get any better,” she said as she closed her set. The incident lit social media on fire with wild reactions.
Ohio State should thank Mariah Carey. They no longer have the worst performance of the night.
