Lakevia Jackson Gunned Down Over Bowling Ball
A police manhunt is underway for the person who shot and killed Lakevia Jackson, the mother of Young Thug’s 14-year-old son, who was murdered in Atlanta at the Metro Fun Center on Thursday in a dispute over a bowling ball.
According to police, on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at around 10:50 pm officers responded to Metro Fun Center 1959 Metropolitan Pkwy SW on a report of a person shot. On scene, officers found a deceased adult female with multiple gunshot wounds. Atlanta Police Homicide detectives responded and began their investigation. Preliminary information indicates that the incident began with a dispute over a bowling ball which escalated to gunfire. The investigation is continuing.
Ms. Jackson was out at the bowling alley celebrating her friend’s birthday with a small group of loved ones when a dispute occurred over a bowling ball. Police claim that the suspect waited outside of the bowling alley for 20 minutes before shooting Ms. Jackson.
“This is truly an atrocity,” APD Homicide Commander Lt. Ralph Woolfolk told SOHH.com exclusively. “A young lady has lost her life over a bowling ball. We talk about conflict-resolution time and time again, and this is an escalated dispute so we will work this case through the night and we will find the person responsible. We know who [you] are so go ahead and turn yourself in.”
Based on surveillance video of the incident, ballistic evidence, and witness testimony, police said they believe they are close to making an arrest.
Social Media Sends Condolences To Young Thug
On social media, fans and celebrities are sending their condolences and well wishes to Young Thug, his son, as well as to the family of the late slain mother of his children Lakevia Jackson. One user on Twitter wanted to make sure that Ms. Jackson be honored by name, stating “she has a name (LaKevia Jackson) why y’all calling her young thug baby momma in every post?”
Another user pointed out how senseless the alleged reasoning is for her murder stating “You know how mentally unwell you have to be to kill somebody over a damn bowling ball????? RIP LaKevia Jackson
”
Young Thug Grieves
At the time of the murder, Young Thug was in Austin performing at Billboard’s SXSW concert series. Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffery Lamar Williams, met Ms. Jackson when she was 14 as they lived in the same neighborhood. Thug has yet to make a public statement about the loss of his son’s mother.
