New York rapper Ma$e‘s return to music-making could have a lot to do with Uncle Sam. A new report claims Mason Betha owes a few big bucks to the government.

According to theJasmineBRAND, the IRS recently made Ma$e take that-take that with two tax liens.

The 42-year-old Bad Boy rapper has unpaid taxes for the year 2007. The total owed is $31,046.67. His tax debt originally was only $16k, but due to his non-payment it grew with interest of $11k. He also has a 2nd lien for $2,537 for unpaid unpaid taxes in 2004, which also grew with interest over the years due to the non-payment. This brings his unpaid tax debt to a grand total of $33,583.67. A few weeks ago, comedian/rapper Nick Cannon recalled attending one of Ma$e’s past church sermons.

“I was at Ma$e’s church. D*mn right I was at Ma$e’s church. He had ministries in Atlanta. The man was speaking the truth, he was giving that word and I’m like, ‘Oh, this is Ma$e.’ I’m sitting up and he’s preaching the gospel and he’s catching the spirit and speaking in tongues. It was happening I was with him – where sh*t got murkey for me and Ma$e is my man but when you come back and it’s like, even the ‘Welcome Back,’ I’m with you. I believe you can do both. But when you come back killing n*ggas and you back on your Murda sh*t? You’re wilding my n*gga. … What is the light you’re shining on what you believe is the true essence in the true gospel. So now what is that worth because if you claim – he made statements in his book that he changed his life and he will never go back and that’s dark and I understand everyone has growth but you were making judgemental statements and now you’re back doing the same thing. Either you’re telling me what you believe is false or that your character is false and we gotta have a conversation about that. … What I’m looking forward to is the Ma$e that’s going to come forward and explain like, ‘I love God. I have a deep belief in spirituality but my flesh yearns for women. My flesh years for money. My flesh yearns for attention and I can get all that in hip-hop.'” (VLAD TV)

Recently, Dipset leader Cam’ron talked about having Ma$e blast him with his unexpected “The Oracle” diss song.

“It was out the blue, but I’m proud of him, he finally showed some guts after like 15 years. It took him 15 years, but I was really proud of him when I heard that,” Cam said in an interview. “The thing with me, I don’t really make up stuff when I’m talking about Mase. I just tell him what’s going on. I put a project out called The Program two weeks ago, and I told a story about something that happened in Harlem. So basically he was probably upset that I told the story, but I’m not going to stop telling any story, because it’s Mase or anybody else. My raps are not that much fiction, I rap about stuff that’s going on, so therefore I just told a story, came out the blue. But I’m proud of him, he showed some heart.” (Complex)

The same week, Mason Betha came forward to explain why he felt the need to drop his diss record.

“He said something that just pushed me over the edge, I’m not going to lie. When he said, ‘the bodily harm’ thing. Saying something about someone, I don’t take that serious. When you start saying you’re going to do bodily harm or you’re thinking about that, it’s my job as a man to make sure you don’t get to do that. So every other time when he was saying little stuff about me, I let it slide because you know, we grew up. But people don’t realize, we’ve been enemies way longer than we’ve been friends. So I knew him as an enemy more than as a friend. I knew him for like 8 years as a friend, I knew him for 21 years for being an enemy. So I don’t look at him as a friend.” (Hot 97)
