Former Bad Boy Records rapper Ma$e has reportedly left photo-sharing application Instagram for good after losing over a million followers this week.

According to reports, Mason Betha pulled the plug after being taunted for allegedly having fake followers.

Instagram felt like being petty and purged damn near everyone’s followers (something it warned us about), including celebrities. Not even the Good Lord could save his former servant from The Humbling. Screenshots say Betha went from 1.6 million IG followers to 272K in one fell swoop. And now he deleted his account because y’all had to get these jokes off. (Complex)

In an attempt to control spam, Instagram cleaned up its application this week.

The company announced earlier this month that, while it may have 300 million users, it also has something of a spam account problem, and one it intended to deal with. While verified accounts for celebrities and other high-profile users was one strand of that, the other is a cull of fake profiles that has taken effect today. (Slash Gear)

Mason Betha recently talked about hosting a Harlem-themed battle at Bad Boy Records CEO Diddy’s renowned Daddy’s House studio.

“It was just Harlem everywhere, man. I’m excited. This is something I personally wanted to do. I’m just excited to be able to give something back to my town. With me, I always try to give my all to my hood, put my hood on my skin, man. I love it. They ain’t gotta keep asking me who I am. All of it is me.” (Revolt TV)

Recently, Ma$e discussed when his next solo album would drop.

“My next single will probably be me, Rick Ross and Kanye. It’s called ‘Billboard.’ So, we got something really serious coming,” Ma$e said in an interview. “We just got done shooting a video in LA, in the desert, so, it’s gonna be really sexy. The next one [after ‘Billboard’]. … We got an album in the works, it should be out the first week in October. It’s gonna have Ye, Ross, Puff, Dipset, it’s gonna be really special. … This is what I would have put out after [1997’s] Harlem World. It’s gonna be really special.” (Hot 107.9)

  3. LoL Thats why a lot of artist with millions of followers drop an album and sell 20 to 50k its not real it looks good but that’s just what it is a LOOK LOL!!!!

    • which is why I always laugh when people bragged about how many followers they have. That doesn’t mean nothing in the real world or album sales.

    • There are websites that provide those services, believe it or not. Same goes for Facebook likes, youtube likes/subscribers or whatever. Never saw one of those youtube comments talking about such n’ such uses this and that to get views and likes? If there’s market to be addressed, you’ll always have a willing supplier.
