Earlier this year, “Empire” producer Lee Daniels revealed Fox had him remove Gray from starring in the hit show.

“There was a character that I wrote into the original pilot who was Hakeem’s love interest, a mother figure, [played by] Macy Gray. There was a love scene, and they said, ‘This is too much.’ But other than that, we were on the same page.” (The Hollywood Reporter)

Last year, Gray revealed her interest in high-stakes gambling.

“I love gambling and that’s another bad financial decision I’ve made; to play cards for money. The most I’ve won in one night is $28,000 playing Blackjack and when I’m in Vegas I love playing poker and I just lose my mind but not to the point where I think I’ve got a problem,” Gray explained. “[How much have I lost?] Hundreds of thousands I guess. Not millions though but I’ve definitely lost a lot of money. Enough to go and buy myself another house.” (The Telegraph)

Back in 2012, Gray revealed not knowing her own net worth.

“Wow!” exclaims Gray, 45, an Ohio native who calls Los Angeles home. “It says here I’m worth $38 million. But I don’t know where they got that figure from, because I don’t even know how to figure that out. But if it’s right, I’d go cash that in right now and go shopping.” (Huffington Post)
