Washington rapper Macklemore has once again stepped forward to speak out on the controversy he sparked after sweeping the hip-hop categories at last night's Grammy Awards and noticeably robbing fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar of a "Best Rap Album" trophy.

According to Macklemore, there is a huge flaw in the way Grammy winners are chosen.

“It’s a blessing and a curse, a little bit more the curse,” Mack said in an interview. “When we were at the nominations [event] and the nominations come out, first and foremost, Kendrick is a friend of mine. He’s somebody that I love his music and in my opinion has the best rap album of the year and knowing how the Grammys usually go, I knew there was a great chance we would win that award and in essence rob Kendrick. That’s what happened [last] night. It kinda sucks. I think we made a great album, I think that Kendrick made a better rap album and that’s what it is. … What makes it awkward for me is that you never want to be the person that is robbing somebody else and I think if you look at what the Grammys are, I think that people don’t understand is that what the Grammys are, are a bunch of people that are on the Grammy committee on in the industry, they get a ballot and I got a ballot this year. As I’m filling out the ballot, I’m realizing I don’t know much outside the genre of hip-hop in terms of what should get what award.” (Hot 97)

Mack also revealed being unable to speak out on the Grammy Awards’ flawed process during his acceptance speech Sunday (January 26) night.

“I don’t really know much about singer/songwriter, country music or whatever but people are filling out bubbles of genres that they don’t know about,” Mack added. “That’s the process of it. So it makes sense. … Our name was big this year, as was Kendrick’s, but in terms of people that are voting on those ballots, that are filling out those bubbles, we have an unfair advantage due to race, due to the fact we had radio success, due to the fact that our name was circulating more in the pocket of the industry of people filling out that ballot. … All the rap categories were not televised and what I wanted to say, and I said it on Twitter, I said it on Instagram or whatever, but what I wanted to say at the time, was voice my opinion on the matter. That’s why I wanted to talk to you guys. It goes without saying how I feel. I feel like K. Dot got robbed. Out of anything out of the night, I wanted to say that on Grammys and they cued the music and I got pulled off quicker than I wanted to. But it is what it is. Huge shout-out to the TDE. ” (Hot 97)

Hollywood actor/director Michael Rapaport specifically called out the Grammy Awards for snubbing hip-hop and took aim at the Seattle native last night.

“Macklemore won best Rap record at the Grammys.OMGOODness.hiphop is dead & KILL the damn Grammys.where the hell is RAKIM?Macklemore ain’t Rap,” Rapaport tweeted January 26.

“RAKIM,KRS1 & BDK are shaking there d*mn heads to break beat Over the fact that Macklemore won best Rap album at the bullsh*t a** Grammys” (Michael Rapaport’s Twitter)

Coincidentally, the Mack Man revealed a personal apologetic text message he shot to K. Dot following the big wins.

“You got robbed. I wanted you to win. You should have. It’s weird and sucks that I robbed you. I was gonna say that during the speech. Then the music started playing during my speech and I froze. Anyway, you know what it is. Congrats on this year and your music. Appreciate you as an artist and as a friend. Much love.” (Macklemore’s Instagram)
