[With the new release of his BitTorrent Bundle in support of Old Lights New Lights, Machine Gun Kelly collaborator Dub-O tells SOHH readers about hitting the road this week to start his new Guilty for Grinding Tour.]
I’m ready to tour. That’s it. I worked hard on my new Old Lights New Lights project just so I could go out and tour. This is what we do and this is what we’re supposed to do.
I toured with Kells all the time and I seen how things move and I seen the structure. That’s why I got this mixtape together and it ain’t nothing to do it except to tour the world. You can’t just stay and play music all day. There’s a whole world out here, there’s all kinds of people, all kinds of girls.
There’s going to be a lot of people who aren’t going to like me and there’s going to be a lot of people who are going to like me. You just gotta take that risk. It’s about going to that gate and taking on the world. That’s what I want to do with my music. I want everybody to hear it.
I work so hard on it. It’s great. I got a lot of great performance songs. People show me a lot of love when I go out even if they don’t know me. It goes back to the vibe and the music that they get off of me. I’m trying to make a career out of this touring.
I just started the Guilty for Grinding Tour. I haven’t been asleep. Our shows start in Canada and go from June 12 through June 19, which is a big deal. This is going to be my first time performing in Canada since last December with Kells.
Out of the 20-something cities, at least 7 of them called me back like, “Yo, Dub-O can do a headline.” That’s crazy dope. We’re going back to the old school days. We’re packing in the mini-van. We got the CDs in the trunk. It’s gonna be that indepedent grind. Like how Mike Jones and Chamillionaire and everyone did it in the underground.
This is my first-headlining international tour. I don’t care, it could be 5 or 10 people at the show and we’re still going to be jumping. It’s going to be fun. The fact I got booked in Canada for 7 shows is crazy.
