Pittsburgh rapper Mac Miller recently offered his take on popular drug "Molly" and, specifically, why Maybach Music Group head Rick Ross should have received a pass for his date rape reference on "U.O.E.N.O."
According to Miller, there are misunderstandings about what effects the drug has on people’s bodies.
“I don’t know if you’ve ever taken molly but you’re not getting raped on molly,” he says, referencing the controversy surrounding rapper Rick Ross eluding to using molly as a date rape drug in the lyrics to one of his songs. “It’s not a roofie. If you have sex on molly, it’s consensual. Like, they were calling molly this date-rape drug and sh*t — it’s not a date-rape drug. I don’t even like to have sex when I roll. If I’m rolling and I’m with a girl, I’m much more likely to have a good conversation. For real.” (Huffington Post)
Mac also suggested for critics to try and see the imagery artists like Ross and himself paint with perceived dicey lyrics.
“It’s imagery, you know?” Miller adds, before referencing one of his own controversial lyrics from his song “O.K.” “‘F*ck her in the a** everytime I’m in a bad mood’ — that’s funny. If you just think about it. It’s all about imagery. Imagine me coming home, like to my girlfriend, and being like, really upset about my day and being like, ‘I just need to have f*cking anal sex.’ That would be funny. Earlier this year, Ross lost up to $5 million after Reebok parted ways with him following his “U.O.E.N.O.” lyrics.
Rick Ross is crestfallen over losing his Reebok deal because of that date rape song … but he’s also bitter because he believes the shoe company owed him a second chance. Sources close to the rapper tell TMZ … Ross will lose between $3.5 million and $5 million … he was getting a check each time he wore the shoes. TMZ broke the story … Reebok dumped Ross for releasing the song U.O.E.N.O., which includes the lyric: “Put Molly [Ecstasy] all in the champagne. She ain’t even know it. I took her home and I enjoy that. She ain’t even know it.” Ross issued a tepid apology … suggesting the lyrics were actually misinterpreted. He also pulled the song — which was only on a mixtape. We’ve heard Rick Ross’ side of the story, but now Reebok CEO Uli Becker has shared his two cents on the rapper’s recent dismissal from the brand over his date rape lyrics on Rocko’s “U.O.E.N.O.” According to a tweet made by Footwear News, Becker called Rozay a “great guy,” but said he has “stupid” advisors around him.
